I too am about to finish my college (in a completely different major than art) when after extreme burnout and the lingering feeling of having missed something I came back to art. Four years ago, during lockdown (while I had just started high school), I decided to start painting and damn! I fell in love with it.. It was a hard time for me as well, mentally, and art was a huge help.. It was like a therapy (though I wasn't good at it and definitely had no idea about the art fundamentals). I was immersed into it but it was cut short quite quickly. After high school, life came along the way and I had to choose and since I wasn't good at art, I thought it is better to give up only to realize after 2 years of complete burnout that art was not only something I wanted to have a career in, but it was my home... some where I felt at ease (no matter how frustrating the process gets sometime).. But now after 2 years (having not done any drawing at all during that time), I have lost my abilities I had... actually, it had weakened a lot... And I am old too... I have responsibilities; have to earn money.. etc. etc., but I don't want to leave art again, I want to learn drawing and painting... After much thinking and rotting in bed for months, I finally realize what people meant when they said that though your dreams might seem impossible, if you have faith and willing to put the work, after much time, you will surely fulfill my dream... SO here I am, just trying to learn the skills needed to make the art I want to; all in the midst of chaos of early adulting, poor finances.... The reason I came to this conclusion is; I wanna die content that at least I showed the courage to pursue what I wanted from the core of my heart. AND DAMN THIS VIDEO IS RIGHT ON SPOT!!!! The reason I had procrastinated so much the past two years and even the past few months when I had asked myself if I wanted to get back to art was THE EXACT THING U MENTIONED!!!!! Seriously, this video was what I had needed!!! MY BEST WISHES TO YOU FOR YOUR JOURNEY!!! 💕🤍

I can relate a lot to this, it reflects my personal experiences over the last 20 or so years. And I think a lot of this is universal or at least translates very well to other creative pursuits like writing or music. I've been thinking non-stop about these things since my teens, but the amount I spent actually learning/doing those activities is depressingly small. And a lot of this stems from anxieties like feeling that you make no progress (sadly quite a few of these thoughts are paradoxical) or comparing yourself to people with way more experience.

I think when there is a, I must do this...., then it becomes hard to do it. I have had many years of void because of learning life and other things. Finally I have started again paimting 14 in one month and it is so fun. It needs to be fun and only for your enjoyment. ❤ Then it will be flowing free.

I want to draw people. I always wanted just that. Drawing people is my way of understanding people. And luckily that is what I'm doing right now and I'm even being paid for it. YAY!

If you think Adobe is the only one using stolen data to train AI you are wrong! Among the most common uses of AI that you and I may interact with is AI voice, and many of the AI voices sound a whole lot like certain actual humans. It is almost certain that those voices were trained off of real people that were not aware of this being done and were most certainly not compensated for it in any way. Indeed, if the data was taken like Adobe does then YOU helped them by paying for an internet connection that allows them access to your data. That right, they steal from you without compensation AND you paid the internet bill that allowed them access to it. And if you think stealing your voice is bad imagine the pretty young girl, maybe even underage, that will have her likeness taken from her so they can created an AI pronstar that looks so much like the girl that she's confronted about her pron work even though it isn't actually her. She will suffer from the abuse other people will throw at her and she doesn't get a penny for her trouble. It is entirely possible that a disturbed person my find her and harm het. BIG TECH IS EVIL!

This was great, it really resonated. I agree that as long as we are showing up and working at it, actually making art regularly, then we are artists. There is no point where we suddenly have it bestowed upon us "now I'm an artist". We are just all on different stages on our own journey. It will be a lifelong pursuit.

When I was a teen, I would draw comics, write poems and stories. Unfortunately I listened to societal norms thinking art would not bring me a stable job or make enough money. Society can kill creativity 😢 At 33, after 10 years of marketing, I’m repositioning myself to finally pursue my dream. Always follow your passion, the rest will come together!

I brute forced learning anatomy by drawing over 1300+ figure drawings. These weren't 60 seconds to 5 minute drawings, but 10+ minute drawings. You will learn proportion and understand how the muscles look under different positions. Then I learned anatomy proper from medical textbooks and artistic anatomy like Bridgman. Last year, I did 650+ Bridgman drawings. Am I a master. No. I just started and likely have thousands of hours or more.
